Polycystic Ovary Disease

PCOD or Polycystic Ovary Disease is a kind of hormonal disorder in women which refers to the condition when the women have number of cysts in her ovary. Despite being a hormonal disorder, it may trigger infertility, unwanted facial hair, increase in sugar levels, and many more issues with the body. Major Symptom involved in it is Increase in body weight. In this modern era where everyone is busy in his life doing household chores, office works, taking care of children and family, women have no time for themselves, especially for their health. If women are facing irregular periods for a long time then this may develop a chance of PCOD. If irregular periods are not treated well in time then this may lead to ovarian cancer as well. To detect PCOD, one can go for ultrasounds, sugar tests, testosterone hormonal test.

The major cause of PCOD can be depression. Once cause of PCOD can be increase in male hormone in body which may be predicted by various levels of laboratory tests.

PCOD versus PCOS:

Sometimes PCOD is mixed with PCOS, but both the terms are different, PCOD is a hormonal imbalance condition whereas PCOS (polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) is a disorder. In PCOS, ovaries produce high quantity of male hormones whereas PCOD involves formation of small cysts. PCOD is considered to be a common problem whereas PCOS is a serious problem.
